Educator and Volunteer
On March 14, Ukraine celebrates the Ukrainian Volunteer Day – a day designed to strengthen the patriotic spirit of society, express gratitude to volunteer soldiers for their heroism in the fight for the sovereignty and independence of Ukraine, and draw attention to those who consciously stood up for the defense of the state.
Among such people is Petro Vasylovych VORONA, Doctor of Public Administration, Professor of the Social Pedagogy Department of LTSNU, a participant in the Russian-Ukrainian war since 2014, Lieutenant, Head of the Poltava Regional Branch of the Public Organization “Defense of the State”.
Petro Vorona was also an active participant in the Revolution of Dignity. Together with his comrades, he joined the protests in Kyiv, supporting the participants of the Maidan and defending the democratic choice of Ukraine. His civic position, activity and willingness to fight for the country’s freedom became an example of true patriotism and responsibility to the state.
The events of those turbulent years, people who change history, the price of freedom and the right of Ukrainians to the future were discussed in the program “Conversation in the Studio” of the IRT-Misto+ TV channel. Although the conversation was dedicated to the Heavenly Hundred Heroes Day, its content remains extremely relevant even for the Ukrainian Volunteer Day, because it was the volunteers who became one of the first to defend Ukraine.

It is extremely important for Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University that among the university’s teachers there are people who combine scientific activity, pedagogical work and service to the state. The personal example of Petro Vorona is a powerful source of inspiration for students, forms in young people a sense of civic responsibility, patriotism and awareness of the importance of defending their country.
We are proud of our educator, because such figures help the university community not only gain knowledge, but also raise a strong, conscious generation of Ukrainians who value freedom, remember history, and are ready to work for the future of Ukraine.
