Academic Council Meeting Held at the Faculty of Social and Humanitarian Sciences
One of the key areas of discussion was the organisation of the work of tutors and teaching staff within blended learning formats using the Educational Portal of LTSNU. Particular attention was paid to the quality and completeness of the content available on the University’s Educational Portal. Heads of departments reported on the status of their courses for the first semester of the 2026–2027 academic year and their compliance with established content requirements.
The discussion emphasised the need to clearly formulate assessment criteria, ensure that course syllabi remain up to date, use current Ukrainian and international academic and educational literature, and provide students with the necessary teaching and methodological materials. Particular emphasis was also placed on ensuring that the information contained in online courses is systematic and comprehensive, as this is an important prerequisite for the effective organisation of the educational process.
An important item on the agenda was the approval of academic supervisors and topics for the qualification theses of students pursuing first-cycle (Bachelor’s) degrees. The Academic Council also considered the approval of individual study plans and individual study schedules for Bachelor’s and Master’s students for the 2026–2027 academic year.
During the discussion, the need to take into account students’ individual educational needs, the specific nature of their professional activities, and opportunities to combine study with employment was emphasised.
Particular attention was devoted to the Faculty’s career guidance activities for the current academic year. It was emphasised that modern career guidance should be systematic and involve not only individual meetings with graduates of general secondary education institutions, but also the continuous engagement of school students in the Faculty’s educational, research, and outreach activities.
Important components of this work include increasing the public visibility and academic reputation of teaching staff, building a positive image of the professions and educational programmes offered by the Faculty, maintaining ongoing communication with prospective students and their parents, and developing partnerships with institutions of professional pre-higher education, particularly colleges.
This approach is intended to create a sustainable community of prospective students around the Faculty, so that their introduction to the University does not take place only immediately before the admissions campaign but becomes a consistent process of interaction, participation, and career orientation.
Under “Other Business,” the Academic Council considered a number of current matters, including organisational issues and announcements.
The Faculty Academic Council traditionally serves as a forum for discussing current matters related to the Faculty’s activities, making well-considered management decisions, and establishing shared priorities. Its meetings provide departments with an opportunity to share their experience and achievements, identify current challenges, and jointly determine future areas of work.
This format of open professional dialogue contributes to better coordination among departments, the sharing of successful practices, and the development of a common vision for the Faculty’s future.
