General Meeting with Master’s Students at the Faculty of Social and Humanitarian Sciences
The meeting was attended by Artem Halych, Dean of the Faculty; Yuliia Nuzhna, Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs; heads of departments; and Faculty staff. Maksym Saibekov, Deputy Head and Head of the Accreditation and Licensing Sector of the Department for Quality Management of Educational Activities, also joined the discussion.
The meeting focused primarily on current organisational matters related to the launch of the educational process for first-year Master’s students. Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs Yuliia Nuzhna outlined the main tasks at the beginning of the academic year and emphasised the importance of coordinated organisation of the educational process.
Particular attention was paid to the Educational Portal as an important tool for supporting students throughout their studies. At the beginning of the academic year, it is necessary to ensure that information in electronic courses is complete and up to date, create and configure students’ personal accounts, provide access to the required educational materials, and ensure timely communication about the organisation of studies.
Communication also remains an important issue. Students need to clearly understand where to find the necessary information and contact details for instructors, departments, and the Dean’s Office, as well as whom to contact with organisational questions.
Special emphasis was placed on responding attentively to each student’s needs and requests. Starting a Master’s programme involves numerous organisational matters, so it is important that students can receive the necessary explanations and support in a timely manner. In this regard, the Dean’s Office remains committed to open communication with students and to responding to their current needs.
An important component of Master’s-level education is also working with academic supervisors and determining relevant topics for qualification theses. Students are expected to coordinate the areas of their research with their supervisors in a timely manner and determine and approve topics that correspond to their educational programme. This work makes it possible to establish a clear trajectory for further research activities from the very beginning of the academic year.
Organisational issues related to studies are relevant to students across all educational programmes of the Faculty, including the Secondary Education (History and Civic Education) programme. For students of this Master’s programme, the educational process combines the study of educational components, substantial practical training, and independent pedagogical research, all of which require clear organisation and ongoing interaction with instructors and academic supervisors.
The next meetings for students of the programme will be held directly at the department level, with the participation of the programme guarantor, head of the department, instructors, and department representatives.
The Department of History and Archaeology expresses its gratitude to the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Social and Humanitarian Sciences for organising the meeting, paying attention to students’ needs, and ensuring consistent coordination of work at the beginning of the new academic year.
