Meeting of the Project Group of the EP "Journalism"
It was held in a positive atmosphere and was aimed at updating the content of the program in accordance with the modern challenges of the media sphere.
The meeting was attended by the guarantor of the educational program, Doctor of Philology, Professor of the Department of Ukrainian Language and Journalism Artem Halych, members of the project group - associate professors of the Department of Ukrainian Language and Journalism Olena Kravchenko and Anastasia Nosko, director of LLC "YULAV MEDIA" Roman Rusanov, chief specialist of the youth and sports sector of the Department of Education, Culture, Youth and Sports of the Milov Village Council of the Luhansk region Ilia Tochenyi, as well as a 4th-year student majoring in 061 "Journalism" Kateryna Ostapets, and associate professor of the Department of Primary Education Olha Kutsevska also joined. Ilia Tochenyi shared practical experience and outlined the needs of the modern information environment. He proposed to supplement the educational program with new disciplines - "AI in the work of a journalist" and "Media literacy." In his opinion, these OCs will help students better navigate the digital transformation of media. The proposal to introduce the course "AI in the work of a journalist" was also supported by Kateryna Ostapets.
Roman Rusanov expressed his vision of the development of the educational program. He emphasized the importance of clear and accessible names of educational components. In particular, he suggested changing the name “WEB analytics and creation of WEB resources” to “Audience analytics and media content effectiveness”, since abbreviations and Latinisms complicate the perception of the program. In addition, he advised to focus on analyzing audience behavior and assessing the effectiveness of journalistic materials when teaching the discipline, which are key competencies in digital media. At the same time, he noted, the current name of the course partially focuses on technical aspects - creating a website structure and basic knowledge of web technologies, which are not a priority for most journalists.
The participants of the meeting supported the proposals made and agreed to take them into account during the further updating of the educational program. Such meetings are an important component of the development of high-quality education that meets the needs of students and employers.
