Meeting of the University Academic Council
The agenda included the following items:
the results of accreditation of educational programmes in the 2025–2026 academic year and ways to improve the internal quality assurance system in education;
amendments to educational and research programmes and curricula of the third (educational and research) level of higher education for the 2026–2027 academic year;
miscellaneous.
After hearing and discussing the report presented by Acting Head of the Department for Educational Activities Quality Assurance, Maryna Kravchenko, on the results of accreditation of educational programmes in the 2025–2026 academic year and ways to improve the internal quality assurance system in education, the Academic Council noted that during the 2025–2026 academic year, 31 educational programmes underwent accreditation review: 16 bachelor’s programmes, 11 master’s programmes, and 4 PhD programmes.
Three educational programmes at the first (Bachelor’s) level underwent full accreditation review, of which one received accreditation: Fine Arts – Associate Professor I. A. Hurzhii; two received conditional accreditation: Primary Education – Associate Professor D. V. Uzhchenko, Physical Education – Associate Professor O. I. Sokolenko.
At the second (Master’s) level, five educational programmes underwent full accreditation review, of which one received accreditation: Territorial Governance and Local Self-Government – Professor V. V. Zablotskyi; three received conditional accreditation: Primary Education – Associate Professor N. V. Mordovtseva, Sport – Associate Professor O. V. Mishchenko, Physical Education – Associate Professor O. V. Otravenko; one programme received a refusal of accreditation: Transport – Associate Professor O. V. Skibina.
Thirteen first-cycle (Bachelor’s) programmes, six second-cycle (Master’s) programmes, and four third-cycle (Doctor of Philosophy) programmes underwent and received deferred (conditional) accreditation. Both positive and negative factors affecting the quality assurance of educational programmes, identified by NAQA experts, were discussed.
The discussion was attended by Head of the Academic Department Valentyna Liesnova, programme guarantors I. Hurzhii, N. Mordovtseva, O. Otravenko, O. Mishchenko, Head of the Department of Professional Education, Restaurant and Tourism Business Viktor Burdun, and Rector Olena Karaman. They analyzed the challenges faced by programme guarantors and proposed measures to further improve the internal quality assurance system of education at the university.
After hearing and discussing the report presented by Acting Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Iryna Myhovych on amendments to educational and research programmes and curricula of the third (educational and research) level of higher education for the 2026–2027 academic year, the Academic Council noted that, based on the work of project groups, amendments to nine doctoral (PhD) educational and research programmes and curricula were proposed for approval this year. These changes are aimed at updating the content of doctoral training, taking into account the provisions of the University Development Strategy for 2026–2030, as well as implementing the objectives of the Erasmus+ BEAUCOUP project in which the university participates.
Among miscellaneous matters, the following issues were considered: a petition regarding the awarding of the honorary title ‘People’s Artist of Ukraine’ to Honoured Artist of Ukraine, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Music Art and Choreography, Eduard Holovashych; the establishment of a Supervisory Board in separate structural units and in the Branch ‘Regional Center for Vocational Education’ of Taras Shevchenko Luhansk National University; recommendations of research projects for participation in the second stage of competitive selection of projects of fundamental research, applied research, and scientific-technical (experimental) developments carried out by employees of higher education institutions and research establishments under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine; the establishment of one-time specialized academic councils for awarding the degree of Doctor of Philosophy; approval and adjustment of dissertation topics; granting academic leave; recommendation for publication of scientific and educational-methodological works; and the reorganization of the Department of Literary Studies and Oriental Philology.
At the end of the meeting, the Head of the Academic Council, Vitalii Kurylo, congratulated those present on the completion of the academic year and wished them a productive rest during the vacation period.
