The 3rd International Scientific and Practical Conference
A special highlight was the speech by Halyna Syvachenko, Head of the Department of Comparative Studies at the T.H. Shevchenko Institute of Literature of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) of Ukraine. She not only greeted her colleagues but also announced a major initiative – the opening of the Dmytro Nalyvaiko Scientific Laboratory of Comparative Studies at the Department of Literary Studies and Oriental Philology. The laboratory will operate under the patronage of the T.H. Shevchenko Institute of Literature, and Andrii Hurduz, an associate professor and student of the renowned scientist, has been recommended to lead it.
Words of support were also shared by Yaroslav Polishchuk (Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland); Mykhailo Vikhliaiev (Director of CUESC, "Helvetica" Publishing House); Nadiia Boiko (Editor-in-Chief of the academic journal "Slovo i Chas"); Serhii Komarov (Horlivka Institute of Foreign Languages, Donbas State Pedagogical University); Olena Ovcharenko (Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada); Olha Kryzhanovska (Professor at the Department of Literary Studies and Oriental Philology).
The plenary session was moderated by Professor Olha Kryzhanovska and Associate Professor Andrii Hurduz. The program impressed with its thematic diversity and innovative structure.
In the T.H. Shevchenko Institute of Literature cluster, Halyna Syvachenko presented a thorough report on the history of comparative studies at the Institute, from Academician O. Biletskyi to Academician D. Nalyvaiko. Tetiana Riazantseva conceptually outlined a decade of activity of the Center for Fantasy Literature Research (2015–2025) and its development prospects.
In the Foreign Grand Cluster (Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań), Polish colleagues focused on pressing contemporary issues. Yaroslav Polishchuk analyzed the formation of the war narrative (2022–2024); Ryszard Kupidura examined the Ukrainian migration dystopia; Olena Kovalevska highlighted the role of the journal "Studia Ukrainica Posnaniensia" in the European scientific space.
The geography and topics of the reports from the International and Domestic Scholars Cluster covered key aspects of modern philology. Cătălin Balas (Romania) presented modern concepts of professionalism and volunteerism in translation; İrfan Tosuncuoğlu (Turkey) proposed original solutions to translation studies issues; and Diana Ignatenco (Moldova) presented the experience of integrating Ukrainians into the multicultural environment of Moldovan society. Through the prism of intermedial strategies, Olha Kharlan (Zaporizhzhia) revealed the typology of war representation in art, while Larysa Horbolis (Sumy) discussed vectors for bringing modern books closer to the reader.
Young researchers from our university – undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate students specializing in 035 Philology – also took an active part, presenting their first significant research during the breakout sessions.
The first day concluded with remarks from Svitlana Shpetna, Head of the Department of Literary Studies and Oriental Philology, who summarized the fruitful discussion. Organizational support was provided by the conference secretary, student Sofiia Nedohy bchenko.
