An Open Lecture on Academic Integrity Held for the University Academic Community
The main aim of the event was to inform the university community about the importance of maintaining high ethical and professional standards in educational and research activities, as well as preventing academic misconduct.
It has become a tradition to hold this lecture for the entire university community at the beginning of each academic year, and this year marked the third consecutive year of the event.
The lecture was held in person, with an option for participants to join remotely.
The event was organized with the support of all levels of the university’s internal quality assurance system, including the Department for Quality Management of Educational Activities, headed by Margarita Vitaliivna Kravchenko, as well as the university administration, faculties, and academic departments.
During the lecture, a number of issues were addressed in accordance with Ukraine’s new specialized Law of Ukraine “On Academic Integrity” (No. 4742-IX, dated December 18, 2025), including:
An overview of the provisions of the new law.
A discussion of the seven fundamental values and key principles of academic integrity.
An analysis of 13 officially recognized types of violations, including improper use of artificial intelligence, academic misconduct in assessment, inducing others to commit violations, and institutional violations.
An explanation of the functions of the Commission on Ethics and Academic Integrity and the procedure for submitting an appeal to the Commission.
A review of educational measures, academic liability, and disciplinary responsibility for students and teaching staff.
An overview of the procedure for checking qualification and research papers using the StrikePlagiarism system, as well as practical rules for proper citation.
