Participation in the Jury of the Luhansk Regional Academy of History
In February 2026, Yehor Brailian, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of History and Archaeology of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, took part as a jury member in evaluating scientific works during the 1st stage of the All-Ukrainian Competition-Defense of Scientific and Research Works of Students - Members of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. This was the 17th regional competition-defense, which was held by the Department of Education and Science of the Luhansk Regional State Administration.
In total, the jury evaluated the works in the following sections of the history department: history of Ukraine, historical local history, world history, journalism, psychology and sociology. The defense itself traditionally consists of 2 parts: poster defense, when students present their poster, which outlines the main points of the scientific work, and the defense of the work itself. In the second case, students should ask each other questions, and not the jury members.
Let us briefly mention the subject matter of the history papers. Ilia Yunyk prepared a paper on the topic “Ukrainian History of Starobilshchyna – from Cossack Development to the Present” (scientific supervisor Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor O.V. Naboka), Karolina Velychko “Patronage as a Factor of Socio-Cultural Modernization of Ukraine (Second Half of the 19th – Early 20th Centuries)” (scientific supervisor Doctor of Philosophy, Senior Lecturer Shevtsova E.S.), Darya Denysenko “Holocaust of Roma in Poltava, Luhansk and Donetsk Regions in 1941-1943: A View of the Event from the Position of the Historical Present” (scientific supervisor historian, local historian Oleksandr Karpenko), Kseniia Chokai Formation of Children's Consciousness in Conditions of Totalitarianism: Activities of the Ernst Thälmann Pioneer Organization in the GDR (1948-1990) (scientific supervisor Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Naboka O.V.).
Despite the realities of the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war, the students demonstrated high intellectual and desire to critically evaluate the events of the past.
