On March 25, 2026, the Dean of the Faculty of Natural and Agrarian Sciences Natalia MATSAI, heads of departments and lecturers took part in the EU Local Talk webinar series on the topic "The EU Common Agricultural Policy: What Will Change for Communities?".
The event was organized by the Green Dossier Information Center in cooperation with the International Renaissance Foundation and with the support of the European Union within the framework of the project "Joining the EU Together: Strengthening the Role of Civil Society in Ukraine's Accession to the EU".
During the webinar, experts Kateryna Shor (Manager of the Green Dossier Information Center) and Dr. Olha Ihnatenko (Sustainable Development Expert) examined in detail the evolution of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) of the European Union - from an instrument for ensuring food security to an important mechanism for implementing the EU's environmental and climate policy.
Particular attention was paid to compliance with environmental requirements in the agricultural sector, in particular:
environmental and climate conditions for receiving support under the current CAP for 2023–2027;
strengthening the climate component and environmental standards in the CAP reform after 2027;
integration of the principles of the European Green Deal into agricultural policy;
measures to preserve the environment, reduce the use of pesticides and mineral fertilizers, develop green infrastructure and organic production;
the impact of these requirements on the quality of food products, the state of the environment and sustainable development of rural areas.
The webinar participants also discussed the adaptation of the Ukrainian agricultural sector to high EU environmental standards, practical tools for supporting communities, the development of cooperation, short supply chains, local processing, infrastructure and the involvement of territorial communities in the formation of national priorities in the field of agricultural policy during European integration. Such activities contribute to the training of highly qualified specialists capable of ensuring environmentally safe and competitive development of the agricultural sector of Ukraine in the context of European integration.
