Participation in "The UK-Ukraine Research Twinning Showcase and Networking 2026"
The networking event was organized by the NGO Link UA, the Science for Ukraine initiative and the University of Liverpool (UK).
The main idea of the event is to promote the growth of joint scientific and educational projects between universities in Ukraine and the UK. Among the speakers at the event were Tom Mishosha, Director of the British Council in Ukraine, Yurii Petrushenko, Head of the Foundation of the President of Ukraine for the Support of Education, Science and Sports, Doctor of Economics, Professor of Sumy State University, Yulia Zeg from Springer Nature and Celia Petridge (Universities UK International).
Yehor Brailian gave a report on the advocacy of the Ukrainian diaspora in the UK during the Cold War (late 1940s - early 1990s). The historian emphasized the peculiarities of the formation of the Union of Ukrainians in Great Britain as a key organization of the Ukrainian diaspora in the United Kingdom. In the context of the Russian-Ukrainian war, the topic of advocacy (explanation abroad of the need for further support for Ukraine) is extremely relevant. Therefore, there is a need for a more detailed study to take into account the peculiarities of historical experience for modern advocacy practices.
We express our gratitude to Professor Ihor Potapov for an interesting event and the opportunity to learn more about scientific and educational opportunities in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
