Participation in the International Conference of Ukrainian Studies "Ukraine in the World"
The conference brought together leading Ukrainian and foreign scientists, experts, diplomats, representatives of civil society and state institutions to discuss the current challenges facing Ukraine in the conditions of a full-scale war
The participation of representatives of Ukrainian universities in such international academic platforms is extremely important. Today, educators not only conduct scientific research and train future specialists, but also actively shape the international discourse about Ukraine, convey to the world the truth about the war, its consequences and ways of post-war recovery. The active civic position of the academic community has become an integral part of the professional responsibility of a Ukrainian teacher.
Oleksandra Liashenko initiated and organized the panel discussion “2014: Lessons the World Has Not Learned Yet,” which was dedicated to the beginning of the Russian aggression against Ukraine, its international dimension, and the need for a deeper understanding of the events of 2014 as a prerequisite for the current full-scale war.
During the discussion, Ms. Oleksandra presented a report on Ukraine’s losses as a result of the Russian aggression. The speech emphasized that the war caused the country not only large-scale economic destruction, but also led to significant human, demographic, educational, cultural, and institutional losses. Particular attention was paid to the need for a comprehensive understanding of these losses as a basis for forming an effective state policy to restore and strengthen Ukraine’s human capital.
The panel discussion became a platform for professional dialogue between scientists, journalists, historians, representatives of the security sector, and public figures. Its participants emphasized the need to preserve historical memory, document Russian aggression, and strengthen international support for Ukraine.
The participation of the university representatives in international scientific events confirms the active role of the university in the development of modern Ukrainian science, international academic cooperation, and the formation of an expert vision of the processes of Ukraine's restoration.
