The author of the exhibition is Serhii Hlotov, a graduate of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, Candidate of Biological Sciences, photographer, researcher, and participant in the 27th and 28th Ukrainian Antarctic Expeditions. He is also a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Landscape Gardening and Ecology of the Faculty of Natural and Agrarian Sciences.

The event brought together representatives of local authorities, educators, young people, and community members, who had the opportunity to embark on a symbolic journey to one of the most remote corners of the planet — Antarctica. Through the photographer’s lens, visitors discovered the harsh beauty and remarkable diversity of the White Continent’s natural colours, majestic glaciers and icebergs, as well as the rich world of animals and birds inhabiting the area around the Ukrainian Antarctic station “Akademik Vernadsky”.

Welcoming remarks were delivered by Olena Karaman, Rector of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University. She emphasized the importance of promoting science, supporting young people, and developing educational initiatives that open new horizons for exploring the world.

Larysa Liashenko, Director of the Municipal Institution “Palace of Culture”, also addressed the audience, expressing gratitude to the organizers for providing the residents of the Svitlovodsk community with the opportunity to experience such an unusual and educational exhibition.

During the opening ceremony, it was emphasized that the exhibition has not only artistic but also significant educational value. It aims to spark young people’s interest in science, geography, and natural research, while inspiring them to pursue new discoveries and achievements.

At the conclusion of the event, the organizers invited all attendees to explore the exhibition and discover the fascinating world of Antarctica.

The exhibition became another example of how Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University combines educational, scientific, and cultural outreach activities, creating new opportunities for young people’s development, learning, and inspiration.
