Meeting with Hero of Ukraine Volodymyr Zhemchuhov
The event was dedicated to reflecting on the events of 2014, the beginning of the Russian aggression and occupation of Luhansk region. During the meeting, Volodymyr Zhemchuhov shared his own experience of participating in the resistance movement, spoke about the formation of the partisan movement in Luhansk region, at the origins of which he stood, as well as about his captivity. During one of the operations, Volodymyr Zhemchuhov accidentally blew himself up on a stretcher, lost both hands and his eyesight. He was taken into custody in the hospital, interrogated, and later imprisoned. In 2016, he was released from captivity and sent for treatment and rehabilitation.
The speaker emphasized that the war has been going on for many years and requires not only military strength, but also the steadfastness of spirit, unity and consciousness of citizens. He paid special attention to the importance of national-patriotic education of youth and the formation of responsibility for the future of the country.
The meeting was held in the format of an open dialogue - the participants actively asked questions and received sincere, deep answers. Those present had a unique opportunity to hear a living, truthful story about the events that became part of the modern history of Ukraine.
