The theme of the event was “History created by generations”. After all, the history of LTSNU is not only more than a century of educational and scientific activity, but above all, people, traditions, values ​​and generations who continue to create the university every day.

Special words of gratitude were addressed to the defenders of Ukraine on this day. The military were presented with flowers, and the memory of our students, who stood up for the defense of Ukraine and gave their most precious thing for it — their own lives, was honored with a minute of silence. The National Anthem of Ukraine was played in honor of the Heroes.

The head of the Academic Council of LTSNU, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Vitalii KURYLO, and the rector of the university, corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Olena KARAMAN addressed the university family with congratulatory words. They congratulated students and staff on the start of the new academic year and wished the first-year students a confident start to their student journey.

A separate part of the celebrations was the awarding of employees and representatives of the university community who made a significant contribution to the work of the 2026 admissions committee, public life, and the formation of a positive image of the university. They were awarded university diplomas.

Honored guests — representatives of local authorities and the public: Head of the Executive Committee of the Lubny City Council Yulia Bilokin and Head of the Lubny District Council Tetiana Kachanenko — addressed the university students with words of support and congratulations.

The festive atmosphere was complemented by bright creative performances. According to the long-standing university tradition, a special place in the program was occupied by the honoring of Taras Shevchenko, whose name the university bears. Representatives of the student government laid flowers at the image of the Kobzar, demonstrating respect for the spiritual and national landmarks of the university. Shevchenko's words, engraved on the coat of arms of LTSNU, also sounded symbolic: "Learn from others, and do not shun your own."

Separately, the freshmen were told about the symbols of the university - the Coat of Arms of LNU, which combines images of wisdom, knowledge, freedom, the East of Ukraine and the glory of the Alma Mater. From now on, these symbols have become part of their student history.

The culmination of the holiday was the solemn freshman induction ceremony. The youth went up to the stage, and Bohdana HrIaziuk and Vadym KorIachko read the Solemn Oath of a Student of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University. The freshmen promised to protect the honor and dignity of a student, respect teachers and comrades, increase the traditions of the university, persistently acquire knowledge and be useful to Ukraine with their work.

Another important symbolic moment was the presentation of student cards to the freshmen. It was presented by the head of the student government, Diana Sapa, wishing the new generation of students bright years of study, new discoveries, friends, professional and personal growth.

At the end of the celebrations, the Anthem of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University was played, and all participants and guests of the holiday took a joint photo to commemorate the day when their own university history began for the freshmen.

Dear freshmen! From now on, you are part of the big university community. May your student history be bright, courageous, talented and invincible. Dream. Study. Create. And write new pages of the university's history with us!
