In 2026, 12 years have passed since the beginning of the defense of Luhansk Airport — one of the first major battles of the War of Independence of Ukraine. The exhibition tells about the defenders of the resort, participants of the Luhansk Euromaidan, volunteers and civilians who became part of the Ukrainian resistance to Russian aggression.

The chairman of the Academic Council of LTSNU, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Vitalii Kurylo was invited to participate in the opening of the exhibition and the discussion.

During his speech, Vitalii Kurylo emphasized that the defense of Luhansk airport was one of the first examples of the Ukrainian army's heroic resistance to Russian aggression, and the memory of defenders is an important component of national identity and the education of the younger generation. He emphasized that today it is especially important to document the truth about the events of the war and pass it on to future generations in order to prevent historical facts from being distorted.

The purpose of the event was to honor the memory of the heroes, combat the falsification of history and strengthen social unity. The exhibition reminds us of the high price of Ukrainian freedom and the heroism of those who were among the first to defend Ukraine's independence.
