Student Volunteers from the FNAS Green the University Grounds at the Myrhorod Location
For the Faculty of Natural and Agrarian Sciences (FNAS), this is not simply a commemorative date on the calendar, but an integral part of its philosophy, daily academic practice, and commitment to educating a new generation of professionals.
To mark the occasion, students from the FNAS demonstrated a genuine combination of in-depth theoretical knowledge and useful practical action by initiating and carrying out a large-scale landscaping and improvement project in the area in front of the university’s structural unit at its Myrhorod location.
Working together, the students created a new, attractive landscape composition featuring a variety of evergreen conifers and ornamental shrubs:
‘Skyrocket’ Rocky Mountain juniper (Juniperus scopulorum ‘Skyrocket’), distinguished by its elegant columnar form and resistance to urban conditions;
Common boxwood, used to create harmonious border accents and naturally divide the area into zones;
‘Raven’s Wing’ spreading juniper, which adds visual dynamism to the landscape through the distinctive texture of its foliage.
While planting the greenery, the future professionals applied their specialist skills directly in practice. The students carefully assessed the structure and condition of the soil, correctly calculated the depth of the planting holes, and thoroughly watered the newly planted specimens in accordance with all relevant horticultural requirements to promote successful rooting before the winter season.
This green initiative was not only a practical contribution to improving the microclimate and aesthetic appearance of the university building, but also a living example of how professional skills can be transformed into tangible benefits for the university community and the city.
The plants will grow alongside our students’ professional achievements, reminding us every day that major environmental changes always begin with personal responsibility, care for the environment, and collective effort in our own communities.
We sincerely thank Illia Ivashyna, Roman Chymshyr, Myroslav Yermolov, Viktoriia Borysenko, Viacheslav Balioz, Pavlo Stepanov, and Denys Shchuka for their initiative, commitment, significant personal contribution to this shared effort, boundless energy, and dedication to strengthening the Faculty’s green traditions!
You demonstrate that environmental awareness is not merely about words, but above all about concrete action, responsibility, and daily care for the environment.
May the greenery you have planted continue to grow, beautify the university grounds, and remind us that great changes begin with small steps, a sincere desire to make a difference, and united efforts.
Let us create a greener future together! Let us multiply good deeds, protect nature, and inspire others through our own example to make the world a better place!
