The Faculty of Health Care and Sport of LTSNU hosted a solemn induction ceremony for its first-year students — an event that symbolically opened a new chapter of student life for them.

The celebration brought together first-year students, faculty members, university and faculty administration, guests, and participants who joined the event online. The ceremony began with reflections on student life, new friendships, first academic achievements and successes, and, most importantly, on becoming part of the large University community.

Those present observed a minute of silence in memory of the Defenders of Ukraine and all those whose lives were taken by the war. This was followed by the National Anthem of Ukraine.

The first-year students were welcomed by Vitalii Kurylo, Chair of the Academic Council of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, Academician of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences and Professor; Olena Karaman, Rector of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences and Professor; and Volodymyr Moroz, Chair of the University Primary Trade Union Organization and Associate Professor of the Pedagogy Department of the Faculty of Psychology and Pedagogy.

The students were also greeted by Oleksandr Dubovoi, Dean of the Faculty of Health Care and Sport, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor, Honored Master of Sports of Ukraine and Honored Worker of Physical Culture and Sports.

The festive atmosphere continued with a creative performance by Karina Vostretsova, a representative of the Faculty of Arts.

A special part of the ceremony was devoted to the history of the Faculty of Health Care and Sport. Archival and contemporary photographs of university buildings, faculty members and students from different years, sporting competitions, practical classes, ceremonies, and professional achievements were displayed on the screen. Today, the faculty's activities encompass four important areas: sport, physical culture, health, and rehabilitation.

The first-year students also had an opportunity to learn more about the work of the faculty's departments. The Department of Olympic and Professional Sport presented its achievements, sporting traditions, and professional opportunities through photographs of competitions, training sessions, and the victories of students and graduates. Volodymyr Dubovoi, one of the first graduates of the program, and Serhii Shynkariov, one of its first lecturers, also shared their memories of the development of this field.

The presentation of the Department of Theory and Methodology of Physical Education focused on the training of future physical education teachers and specialists in organizing physical fitness and health-improvement activities. Oleksandr Lyvatskyi, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences and Associate Professor, and Olena Otravenko, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor, founder of a scientific school, and Head of the Department, shared their memories and professional experience. The festive program continued with a performance by Anton Hyra.

Another important part of the event was the presentation of the Department of Health and Rehabilitation, which trains specialists whose professional work focuses on people, their health, movement, and return to an active life. Particular attention was paid to the modern role of rehabilitation professions, as military personnel and civilians recovering from injuries, trauma, illnesses, and difficult life experiences are in need of professional assistance today. Andrii Hryshchuk was invited to deliver a welcome address.

The participants also enjoyed creative performances by Tykhon Hloba, an online greeting from Yelizaveta Kotrikova, Chair of the Faculty Student Council, and a musical performance by Diana Otych.

The highlight of the celebration was the formal induction of the first-year students into the Faculty of Health and Sport. The students took a symbolic oath, pledging to study responsibly, respect their teachers, support their classmates, compete honestly, develop strength of body, character, and knowledge, protect their own health and the health of those around them, and proudly represent the faculty and the university. Each pledge concluded with a confident: “We swear!”

Diana Sapa, Chair of the Student Council, was invited to receive the symbolic student ID card.

May their university years become a time of learning, personal growth, genuine friendship, and confident progress toward their chosen profession. After all, the Faculty of Health Care and Sport is a team that chooses health, strength, knowledge, and the future!
