Lecturers’ Advanced Training
Scientific and pedagogical workers of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (Daria Perepadia, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Foreign Languages Department; Andrii Hurduz, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor, Associate Professor of the Literary Studies Department, Kateryna Bilobrovska, Doctor of Philosophy in Philology, Senior Lecturer of the Foreign Languages Department) during July 13–31, 2026 took part in a professional development course in the field of knowledge “A Education” under the program “Methodology of Teaching Professional Disciplines in English”, which was organized by the Center for Certification, Attestation and Educational Innovations of Zhytomyr Polytechnic State University.
The program was intended for scientific and pedagogical and teaching staff of higher education institutions and scientific institutions. Teaching was conducted in English remotely in synchronous mode using the Google Meet platform for a total of 90 academic hours (3 ECTS credits).
The purpose of advanced training is to develop the professional skills of lecturers, update subject knowledge, master innovative teaching methods, digital technologies, and ensure that the educational process meets modern requirements of higher education.
During the advanced training course, a number of relevant topics aimed at developing the professional and pedagogical competencies of a foreign language lecturer were considered and mastered, including Academic Reading, Academic Writing, Academic Listening, Teacher’s Role, Classroom Management, Giving Feedback, CELTA/DELTA, Guided Discovery, Introduction to CLIL, Contemplating, etc.
After completing the program, teachers improved and acquired the following skills:
• integrate linguistic and professional knowledge in teaching professional disciplines in English;
• adapt complex subject content in English for students with different levels of foreign language proficiency;
• plan and conduct classes taking into account learning objectives and students' needs;
• effectively explain the material and provide instructions in English;
• select, adapt and create educational materials focused on the needs of students;
• use interactive methods and a communicative approach to teaching professional disciplines in English.
After completing the advanced training course, lecturers are ready to demonstrate and implement updated professional competencies, apply innovative educational technologies, develop modern teaching and methodological materials, integrate digital tools into the educational process when teaching subjects, and improve the quality of educational and scientific activities.
