Results of the 1st Stage of the All-Ukrainian Student History Olympiad
This year, the intellectual competition took place in the format of a historical quest “Ukraine and Europe: Historical Connections and Mutual Influences”.
The participants were offered an unusual format of work: they joined the virtual “Council of Diplomats” and consistently analyzed the key stages of interaction between Ukrainian lands and Europe – from the times of Rus’ and the Lithuanian-Polish period to the Cossack era and the events of the 20th century. The tasks combined test questions, work with visual and textual sources, and also required the ability to trace historical connections, argue conclusions, and see Ukrainian history in a broader European context.
The Olympiad was attended by students majoring in "Secondary Education (History and Civics)" and "History and Archaeology" of various bachelor's and master's courses.
Based on the results of the examination of the works, the jury determined the winners of the first stage:
1st place - Viktoriia Makarenko, a 4th-year student majoring in "History and Archaeology";
2nd place - Mykyta Maslakov, a 2nd-year student majoring in "Secondary Education (History and Civics)"
3rd place - Oleksandr Miroshnychenko, a 2nd-year student majoring in "Secondary Education (History and Civics)".
We congratulate the winners and thank all participants for their interest in history, attentiveness to sources, willingness to think outside the box and accept intellectual challenges.
