The First Step Toward a Profession: The Department of Landscape Gardening and Ecology Welcomes First-Year Students
Beginning studies at a higher education institution is an important stage in the life of every first-year student. Therefore, the meeting was aimed not only at introducing students to the department and its teaching staff, but also at creating comfortable conditions for their adaptation to the new educational environment, university traditions, and the organization of the learning process.
During the meeting, first-year students met the Head of the Department and the academic staff who will be responsible for their professional training. The students were introduced to the main areas of the department’s activities, the specifics of the educational process, opportunities for participation in research and practical activities, as well as prospects for professional development.
An important part of the meeting was the introduction to the academic advisors of the student groups — experienced members of the department’s academic staff, Associate Professors I. S. Kravets and I. V. Tymchenko. The advisors will help students adapt to university life, navigate the educational process, develop their individual educational pathways, and address organizational issues that may arise during their studies.
The first-year students were also introduced to the guarantors of the educational programs:
E2 “Ecology” — Associate Professor N. Yu. Matsai;
H3 “Landscape Gardening” — Associate Professor S. O. Sokolov.
The program guarantors familiarized the students with the content and specific features of their respective educational programs, spoke about the competencies students will develop during their studies, and outlined opportunities for practical training and professional development.
Special attention was paid to future employment prospects and the wide range of professional opportunities available to graduates. The knowledge and practical skills acquired will enable graduates to work in the fields of environmental protection, sustainable use of natural resources, environmental management, environmental monitoring, landscaping and urban improvement, landscape design, landscape gardening, and green space management.
Students also had the opportunity to ask questions and receive the necessary information about the organization of their studies, communication with the department, and the opportunities offered by the university environment.
Ahead of our first-year students lie years of study, professional development, scientific exploration, practical work, new acquaintances, and important life discoveries. We are confident that the first step taken within the walls of the university will mark the beginning of a successful professional journey for each of them.
The Department of Landscape Gardening and Ecology sincerely congratulates its first-year students on the beginning of this new stage in their lives!
We wish you perseverance and confidence in your abilities, exciting discoveries, successful studies, professional growth, and the realization of your boldest ideas. May your student years be rich, meaningful, and become a solid foundation for your successful future.
Welcome to the university family!
