Online Event of the Department of Pedagogy: “The Teacher as an Actor and Director of the Educational Process”
The event was aimed at enhancing the professional motivation of prospective teachers, fostering their awareness of the teacher’s role in contemporary schooling, and cultivating a positive attitude toward pedagogical activity.
The objective of the meeting was to conceptualize the teaching profession as a creative, dynamic, and socially significant field essential for societal development. Participants were provided with an opportunity to examine teaching practice through the lenses of art, communication, and current educational challenges. In the context of the digitalization of education, the teacher assumes new roles, including that of a learning facilitator, a moderator of group interaction, and a coach supporting students’ personal development.
Students examined three creative roles of the modern teacher: the scriptwriter — responsible for designing the structure of the lesson and the logic of instruction; the director — the organizer of the educational environment and interaction; and the actor — the embodiment of emotional expression, voice, facial articulation, and pedagogical charisma. A separate segment of the event was devoted to discussing the challenges faced by contemporary teachers, including competition with social media, fragmented (“clip”) thinking, and reduced attention span among learners.
The central idea of the event emphasized the unique mission of the teacher. Educators engage with the aspirations, beliefs, and future of each child. Therefore, the teaching profession requires inspiration, responsibility, and a commitment to continuous professional and personal development.
