Online Lesson of the Luhansk Regional Museum of Local Lore
Students of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University also joined the online lesson: students of the specialties Secondary Education (History) and Secondary Education (History and Civic Education), as well as first-year students of the Master’s degree in the specialty Secondary Education (History and Civic Education). Participation in the event took place within the framework of studying educational components of the methodology of teaching history.
For future historians and teachers, participation in the open lesson was an opportunity to get acquainted with the practical experience of museum workers working with school audiences of different age groups, to see examples of the implementation of museum pedagogy, as well as the methodology for organizing and conducting educational classes and open lessons for schoolchildren.
The speaker of the event was Yulia Tsykulova, head of the sector of late medieval and modern history of the Luhansk Regional Museum of Local Lore. During the lesson, the history of the Ukrainian volunteer movement, its significance in the struggle for Ukraine’s independence, and the role of volunteers in the current events of the Russian-Ukrainian war were highlighted.
After attending the online lesson, the students discussed and analyzed the lessons in study groups. Attention was focused on the structure of the lesson, methodological techniques for presenting historical material, the use of museum resources in the educational process, and the features of working with a student audience.
As part of the cooperation between Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University and the Luhansk Regional Museum of Local Lore, we express our sincere gratitude for the opportunity to join the event and see the practical implementation of museum-educational work with a school audience. For students, this is an important experience of getting acquainted with modern approaches to teaching history and using the potential of museum pedagogy in the educational process.
