Learning Beyond the Classroom
This time, students of the Special Education Department at the Faculty of Education and Psychology visited a riding club on Zamkova Hora. They enjoyed an interesting encounter with horses, gained new impressions, and had an opportunity to learn more about hippotherapy, one of the approaches used to support children with special educational needs.
Hippotherapy is particularly interesting because it combines physical activity, emotional contact, communication, and specially organized interaction with an animal. For future special education professionals, this was another opportunity to see how diverse approaches to supporting and developing children with special educational needs can be.
We got acquainted with the horses, learned how to interact with them properly and safely, went horseback riding, talked a lot, and, of course, enjoyed many positive emotions!
For us, this was more than just an excursion. It was an opportunity to see the profession from a different perspective, gain new experience, and discover another interesting area of special education.
We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to the riding club on Zamkova Hill for its hospitality, engaging presentation, friendliness, and the opportunity to get so close to the horses!
