University at the Opening of the Exhibition "The Beginning of Resistance: Defense of Luhansk Airport"
The exhibition tells about the defenders of Luhansk airport, participants of the Luhansk Euromaidan, volunteers and residents of Luhansk region who stood up for Ukraine. Its goal is to preserve the memory of the heroes, popularize little-known pages of the Ukrainian resistance, and remind us of the price that the Ukrainian people pay for freedom and independence.
The event was also attended by representatives of our university community, including the first vice-rector, head of the Academic Council of LTSNU, Vitalii Kurylo, teachers of the Faculty of Social and Humanitarian Sciences, the Educational and Research Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology, and other departments of the university.
The Director of the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance, Oleksandr Alferov, a participant in the defense of the Luhansk airport, Colonel Roman Segeida, a soldier of the 12th Special Forces Brigade “Azov” Anton Glushko, a public activist, volunteer, and co-author of the English-language edition of the book “In the Ring of Fire. Defense of the Luhansk Region” Anastasia Hlotova, Director of the Information Policy Department of the Luhansk Regional State Administration Albina Kusheleva, as well as representatives of the Milov settlement council of the Starobilsk district and the educational community of the Luhansk region, addressed the attendees with words of respect and gratitude.
During the opening of the exhibition, Vitalii Semenovych Kurylo emphasized in his report the importance of preserving the institutional memory of the Luhansk region and the need to increase its spiritual and cultural heritage.
“The public of the Luhansk region must preserve the institutional memory of their native land, increase its heritage, in order to definitely return home. Our people remain there, waiting for the return of Ukraine,” Vitalii Semenovych noted. The first vice-rector of LTSNU also expressed his gratitude to the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance, the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, and everyone who is making efforts to preserve the historical truth about the events of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
The exhibition “The Beginning of Resistance: Defense of the Luhansk Airport” is designed not only to honor the feat of the defenders of the Luhansk region, but also to remind society of the importance of preserving national memory and the struggle for the return of Ukrainian territories.
