Round Table "Current Problems of Historical Science in the Context of Modern Challenges"
On April 17, 2026, as part of the Student Science Days, the Department of History and Archaeology of the Faculty of Social and Humanitarian Sciences of LTSNU organized and held a round table "Current Problems of Historical Science in the Face of Modern Challenges". The event became part of the university's systematic work on the development of student science, the formation of a research culture of higher education students, and ensuring the integration of the educational process with scientific activity.
The round table was attended by students of the first (bachelor's), second (master's) and third (educational and scientific) levels of higher education in the specialties of History and Archaeology, Secondary Education (History), Secondary Education (History and Civic Education). The program of the event presented 16 scientific reports prepared based on the results of independent research by students.
The topics of the reports demonstrated the relevance of the chosen scientific discourse and compliance with modern trends in the development of historical science. The participants raised the issues of historical memory and memorial policy, decolonization of the humanitarian space, transformation of museum work, regional history, European intellectual traditions, the history of Ukraine in wartime, confessional processes of the 20th century, the development of historical education and methodological renewal of modern historical studies.
The content of the presented studies demonstrated the appropriate level of formation of professional competencies, skills in working with the source database, the ability to apply modern methodological approaches, carry out scientific argumentation and present the results of their own research activities among the applicants.
Scientific consulting, organizational and methodological support for the preparation of reports and coordination of the work of the participants were provided by the scientific and pedagogical staff of the Department of History and Archaeology, which indicates the effective functioning of the academic mentoring system and the involvement of higher education applicants in scientific and research work.
The organizing committee of the round table included: Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of History and Archaeology O. V. Naboka; Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor O. A. Drobysheva; Doctor of Philosophy in History and Archaeology, Senior Lecturer E. S. Shevtsova.
Following the event, a collection of materials from the round table was formed and published, which includes the scientific works of the participants. The publication became the result of the testing of student research and an important tool for popularizing the academic achievements of education seekers.
Holding such scientific and communicative events confirms the consistent implementation by the university of the principles of student-centered learning, academic integrity, combining education and science, as well as the creation of a favorable environment for the professional development of future specialists in the field of history and education.
