Public Discussion of Educational Programs of the Specialty B1
The discussion of the projects was chaired by Maksym Saibekov, a senior lecturer at the Department of Design and Media Production, Doctor of Philosophy.
Representatives of leading media organizations in the region, including editors and specialists from television and radio companies, as well as representatives of the academic community of other higher education institutions, joined the discussion. The participants emphasized the need to adapt educational programs to modern trends in the development of digital media, including the development of content for YouTube platforms, working with analytical data, creating video content in various formats (caption-video, explainers), and functioning in live formats.
Particular attention was paid to strengthening the practical component of applicants' training. It was proposed to:
increase the volume of production practice and structure it into several stages;
expand the practice base;
ensure the involvement of applicants in the full cycle of creating a media product.
Based on the results of the discussion, a number of changes were proposed to be made to the educational program "Television Program Host", in particular:
update the list of educational components in accordance with the current needs of the media industry;
introduce the discipline "Media Law";
transform the course "Fundamentals of Video Blogging and Podcasting" into "Fundamentals of SMM and Video Blogging";
clarify the names and scope of individual disciplines;
provide for the possibility of distance learning.
Within the framework of the master's educational program "Director of Audiovisual Works", the emphasis is on training specialists who are able to implement large-scale audiovisual projects, work in the field of videography, cinematography and editing, as well as develop their own media projects.
Following the results of the meeting, the updated composition of the project groups of both educational programs was approved with the involvement of employers, applicants and graduates, which corresponds to the principles of student-centered learning and the recommendations of ESG-2015.
All proposals and recommendations will be taken into account when forming the final versions of the educational programs, which will be submitted for approval to the academic council of the faculty.
