The meeting considered written communication as an important means of professional interaction that ensures effective exchange of information, establishment of business contacts, and presentation of professional competencies. Particular attention was paid to developing writing skills within English language classes – specifically, cultivating the ability to produce logical, well-structured, grammatically correct, and stylistically appropriate texts tailored to specific communicative goals and the requirements of a professional environment. A separate part of the lecture was devoted to supporting aspects of improving English writing skills. Participants had the opportunity to refresh their knowledge regarding linguistic norms, the selection of vocabulary, text organization, the maintenance of a formal style, and the rules of professional etiquette in written communication.
The practical value of the meeting was provided by a discussion of genres of professional self-presentation in English: a Resume, a CV, a Cover Letter, a Motivational Letter, a Recommendation Letter, a Reference Letter. The focus was on the purpose of each document, its structural features, language design, and role in the process of employment, admission to educational institutions, and building a professional career. The content of the lecture contributed to deepening knowledge about modern requirements for English-language written communication and awareness of the importance of practical mastery of relevant genres for academic and professional activities.
Guest lectures are an essential component of the modern educational process, as they combine theoretical training with practical experience, contribute to improving the quality of education and the formation of competent, competitive and open to professional development specialists. Such events provide an opportunity to deepen specialized knowledge and foster interaction between the academic environment and the professional community; they also promote the development of critical thinking, research skills, professional motivation, and the ability to apply theoretical knowledge in practice. Furthermore, they create a space for professional dialogue, the exchange of experience, the discussion of current issues, and the establishment of new professional connections.
