Guest Lecture "Environmental Security in Combat Conditions: Impact, Regulation, Damage Assessment and Recovery"
On April 1, 2026, a guest lecture was held at the Faculty of Natural and Agrarian Sciences on the topical topic: "Environmental Safety in Combat Conditions: Impact, Regulation, Damage Assessment and Restoration."
The speaker of the event was Roman Filonenko, an officer of the Department of Organization of Environmental Safety Measures of the Environmental Safety Directorate of the Main Directorate of Mine Action, Civil Protection and Environmental Safety, Senior Lieutenant.
The lecture considered key aspects of the impact of hostilities on the environment, including:
the consequences of military operations for soils, water resources and atmospheric air;
risks associated with mining of territories and destruction of infrastructure;
approaches to assessing environmental damage;
mechanisms of state regulation in the field of environmental safety under martial law;
modern practices for restoring damaged ecosystems.
The lecturer paid particular attention to practical cases of documenting environmental crimes and assessing environmental damage, as well as the role of interagency cooperation in ensuring environmental safety.
The event aroused considerable interest among students and teachers, as the topic is extremely relevant in modern conditions. Participants had the opportunity to ask questions and receive professional answers from a practicing specialist.
Conducting such lectures contributes to the deepening of professional knowledge of students, the formation of practical competencies and understanding of modern challenges in the field of ecology and environmental protection.
