Guest Lecture by Associate Professor of the Department of Ukrainian Language and Journalism Valentyna Lesnova
The first-year students learned about the activities of university dialectological centers from different regions of Ukraine, the directions of scientific research of scientists, and the results of their work.
The lecturer covered in detail the scientific achievements of several generations of representatives of the Luhansk dialectological school, who studied Ukrainian East Slobozhan dialects in various aspects: Borys Sharpyl, Olha Mashtabei, Zinaida Sikorska, Tamara Ternovska, Anatolii Zelenko, Kateryna Hlukhovtseva, Iryna Magrytska, Anna Skorofatova, and others.
The importance of recording and studying authentic texts of the living folk language was emphasized, as it allows us to record facts, phenomena, realities of the past and present, and contributes to the preservation of historical and spiritual memory. Recordings of dialect speech replenish the Ukrainian phonological fund, the regional language information fund and can be used in practical classes on the course of Ukrainian dialectology.
The lecture was attended by teachers of the Department of Ukrainian Language and Journalism of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, and Maryna Poistogova, a senior researcher at the Department of Dialectology of the Institute of the Ukrainian Language of the NAS of Ukraine.
