Border Guard Day of Ukraine
On April 30, Ukraine celebrates Border Guard Day — an opportunity to pay tribute to the military personnel who daily stand guard over the state border, preserving the peace and tranquility of Ukrainians.
On this occasion, a solemn gathering was held at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, which brought together representatives of the authorities, the National Police, the Security Police, border guards, border service veterans, military personnel, the university administration and students, schoolchildren and the public. All those present gathered to pay tribute to those who were the first to meet the enemy — the border guards of Ukraine, who became the living shield of the state and a symbol of its invincibility.
From the stage, sincere words of congratulations and gratitude were heard to the border guards for their courage, steadfastness, selflessness and loyalty to the oath. It was noted that it is their daily service that is the key to the security of the state and the confidence of Ukrainians in the future.
From the stage, Lubny Mayor Oleksandr Hrytsaienko and Rector of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University Olena Karaman addressed the audience, thanking the border guards for their devotion to military duty, indomitable spirit and heroism in the fight for Ukraine's independence.
During the celebrations, the servicemen were awarded state awards, thanks and certificates. The atmosphere of the event was complemented by patriotic songs and words of sincere gratitude. A minute of silence was observed in memory of the border guards who gave their lives defending the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.
Also invited to speak were the head of the Poltava region Security Police Department, Police Colonel Serhii Zaporozhets, Assistant Head of the Poltava Region Regional Department of the National Police for Work with Veterans, Police Lieutenant Colonel Vyacheslav Yasko, Chairman of the Board of the International Alliance of Defenders of Ukraine, Border Guard Colonel Viacheslav Vasiliev, Deputy Chief of the Sumy Border Guard Detachment - Chief of Staff, Colonel Oleksandr Ozinkovsky, as well as a serviceman of the 18th Marine Guard Detachment, Staff Sergeant Mykola Yenii.
Sincere words of support and gratitude were expressed by the volunteer, head of the Charity Fund "Honor and Conscience" Oksana Kanevska, who presented the military personnel with gifts.
A special event was the transfer of the flag of the "Steel Border" unit of the State Border Service of Ukraine to the Center for Veteran Development of LTSNU, which was presented to the rector of the university, Olena Karaman, by Viacheslav Vasiliev. This symbol of courage and honor will become a reminder of the indomitability of Ukrainian defenders and the power of unity.
The event once again proved that border guards are the first line of defense of the state, and their feat is forever engraved in the heart of Ukraine. Gratitude for their service is not just words, but our duty to remember, support and pass on this honor to future generations. Together - to Victory!
