The event was held within the project “Institutionalization of interaction between a higher education institution and territorial communities as a factor in the restoration and preservation of human capital in conditions of martial law and post-war reconstruction of the country”.

The educational course “Information Security: Without Restrictions and Embellishments” acquires particular relevance and becomes an important tool for preserving human capital. In conditions of martial law, territorial communities often become objects of information attacks, where populism, manipulation of facts and distortion of information standards are used to destabilize local self-government and undermine trust in public institutions.

During the meeting, the participants discussed the importance of developing critical thinking skills and media literacy. Teaching community residents to distinguish between real recovery strategies and populist promises contributes to the university’s fulfillment of its important social mission — the formation of intellectual immunity of society, necessary for overcoming modern challenges and rebuilding the country.

Special attention was paid to the role of information standards and fact-checking in the modern information space. This approach helps communities move from passive consumption of information to its critical analysis and verification.

Such educational initiatives contribute to the establishment of effective interaction between scientists, authorities and the public, form a culture of responsible information consumption and strengthen the resilience of communities to disinformation.

Thus, the development of cooperation between the university and territorial communities establishes Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University as a center for the formation of media hygiene and critical thinking, which plays an important role in preserving human capital and supporting social resilience in the face of modern challenges.
