"Barrier-Free: A Society of Equal Opportunities"
The aim of the event was to develop among the student youth an understanding of the principles of accessibility, equality, mutual respect and the creation of an accessible educational environment for all participants in the educational process.
The event was hosted by Yulia Butenko, Deputy Director for Social and Humanitarian Work, who welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of building a society of equal opportunities, where every person has the right to full participation in community life, regardless of physical abilities, age or social status.
During the opening speech of the institute administration, it was emphasized that accessibility today is one of the key areas of development of modern education and Ukrainian society in general. Particular attention was paid to the role of youth in the formation of an open, inclusive and comfortable environment.
As part of the information block, the participants got acquainted with the presentation “What is barrier-free?”, during which the basic principles of accessibility, equality and inclusion were revealed. Those present learned more about the importance of eliminating not only physical, but also psychological, informational and social barriers.
The participants also watched a thematic social video dedicated to the issues of supporting people with disabilities, tolerance and mutual understanding in society.
During the final discussion, students and teachers discussed that barrier-freeness begins with simple but important things - respect for others, willingness to help, openness and the ability to hear each other. The participants concluded that everyone can make the educational environment more comfortable and accessible for everyone.
At the end of the event, Yulia Butenko thanked all those present for their active participation and emphasized that only through joint efforts can we create a society without barriers, where every person will feel important, needed and protected.
Together — without barriers!
