Regulations on the Educational and Research Institute of Mathematics and Information Technologies of the SI “Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University”

The Educational and Scientific Institute of Mathematics and Information Technologies (NN IMIT) was established on December 1, 2007. The Institute is the successor of the traditions and spirit of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics. The Institute’s teachers take an active part in the world scientific life and actively cooperate with the Precarpathian National University named after Vasyl Stefanyk (Ukraine); University of Deusto (Spain); AGH University of Science and Technology (Poland), University of Cyprus (Cyprus); Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University (Ukraine); Pereyaslav-Khmelnytsky Hryhoriy Skovoroda Pedagogical University (Ukraine); Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University (Ukraine); South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University named after K.D. Ushynsky (Ukraine) and many others.

The Institute is a participant in many scientific and international projects. Recently, the Institute’s staff has participated in:

  • 2023-2024. international project of cooperation and support of the University of Bath (Great Britain);
  • 2021-2024 – Scientific project of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine “Free Lode structures and monoids of endomorphisms”;
  • 2022-2024 – Scientific project of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine “Implementation of the tasks of the perspective development plan of the scientific direction “Mathematical Sciences and Natural Sciences”;
  • 2023 – international project G-202301-69859 – Promotion of the Cyber Hygiene E-Learning course at the State Institution “Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University” (Civilian Research and Development Fund of the USA – CRDF USA) – implementation of training courses and modules on cyber hygiene;
  • 2023 – international project G-202301-69860 – Integration of new Cybersecurity course into the Curriculum of the State Institution “Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University (Civilian Research and Development Foundation of the USA – CRDF USA) – development and implementation of a course on information security when using state digitalization tools;
  • 2022- 2023 – UNDP project No. 4019-08 within the framework of the ENI/2018/398-605 agreement – EU Support for Eastern Ukraine – Restoration, Strengthening Peace and Governance;
  • 2017-2021 – international project Modernization of Pedagogical Higher Education with the Use of Innovative Teaching Tools (MoPED – No. 586098-EPP-1-2017-1-UA-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP) within which modern methods and teaching methodologies using modern information technologies were introduced.

Now ER IMIT is gradually creating conditions for ensuring uninterrupted, round-the-clock use of all computing equipment and the development of a high-quality information center capable of providing various services in the IT industry.

Thanks to active scientific and project activities, all necessary conditions for the organization of educational and scientific activities have been created at the institute, all necessary material, technical and software support have been completely restored (see http://mitc.luguniv.edu.ua/uk/node/8) and innovative conditions have been created for the training of future specialists in information technologies and physical and mathematical sciences.

In modern conditions, the main direction of activity of ER IMIT is the creation of a powerful integrated environment capable of providing services in full-time and remote modes of using all computing resources for all departments of Taras Shevchenko Lviv National University, other educational institutions, state institutions and entrepreneurs.

ER IMIT has created and implemented a modern information environment that allows all students and employees to use various software in a virtual environment around the clock (see http://mitc.luguniv.edu.ua/uk/node/11).

Thanks to the creation of an integrated system (see http://mitc.luguniv.edu.ua/uk/node/19), ERIMIT is able to provide all users and students with virtual resources on powerful servers (see http://mitc.luguniv.edu.ua/uk/node/12) and other computers in a 24-hour mode of use. For students of ER IMIT, there is an opportunity to order separate, personal virtual environments (Windows and Linux), which are accessible from any personal device (PC, smartphone, tablet) via the Internet.

Now ERIMIT is gradually creating conditions for ensuring uninterrupted, 24-hour mode of use of all computing equipment and the development of a high-quality information center capable of providing various services in the IT industry.

Thus, ER IMIT has created:

  • a specialized server room to support the software and hardware complex of virtual systems and cloud computing.
  • a specialized laboratory for the development of the software and hardware complex of minicomputers and the Internet of Things.
  • classrooms for the software and hardware complex of digital learning.
