“Literature, Psychology, Pedagogy in the Aspects of Interaction”

On November 6, graduate and postgraduate students from the Department of Literary Studies, Oriental Philology, and Translation actively participated in the III International Scientific and Practical Conference “Literature, Psychology, Pedagogy in the Aspects of Interaction”.

The main organizer of this significant academic event was the Horlivka Institute of Foreign Languages (HIFL). The Institute’s history is a testament to academic resilience, as it was forced to change its location twice. Following the start of the armed conflict in Eastern Ukraine in 2014, the institution relocated from Horlivka (Donetsk region) to Bakhmut. After the full-scale invasion, the Institute moved again and is now successfully continuing its educational and scientific activities in the city of Dnipro. The fact that HIFL initiated this conference after the full-scale invasion demonstrates that the Institute acts not just as an organizer but as a symbol of the unbreakable Ukrainian humanities, which continues to develop and integrate into the global scientific space even while internally displaced.

The conference served as an important platform for exchanging ideas at the intersection of humanities, psychology, and educational sciences. Young scholars from the department presented a number of substantive reports covering complex issues of literary and cultural-psychological analysis: Kozlov Anton «Cultural and Psychological Issues and Alienation in Post-Totalitarian Societies in the Novelistics of Kobo Abe and Yu. Shevchuk», Maksymuk Roman «Tragic Heroism and Existential Guilt in the Works of Todos Osmachka and William Shakespeare: A Comparative Aspect», Andrieiev Stanislav «Evolution of the «Money» Concept in Ukrainian Proverbs and Sayings», Kolesnyk Anna «The Psychologism of Healing and Recovery in Frances Burnett’s Novel The Secret Garden», Miach Andrii «The Symbolism of I. Bahrianyi’s The Garden of Gethsemane as a Metaphor for National Suffering and the Individual Path to Spiritual Resurrection».

The conference became a vital venue for exchanging ideas across the humanities, psychological, and educational sciences. The presentations by our master’s and postgraduate students attest to the high level of their research preparedness and the university’s active engagement in the interdisciplinary scientific space of Ukraine. The experience gained and the discussions held will contribute to the further development of the department’s research areas and enhance the quality of training for young scholars.
