Strategic Partnership with a Leading University in Madrid, Spain

During September and October 2025, Taras Shevchenko National University of Luhansk conducted a series of productive international meetings with representatives of Nebrija University (Madrid, Spain).

The negotiations, held with the support of the Luhansk Regional State Administration / Regional Military Administration, Department of International Technical Assistance, Innovative Development and External Relations, resulted in significant agreements on formalizing the partnership, exchanging educational practices, and expanding academic cooperation.

Nebrija University is one of Spain’s leading private universities, founded in 1995. The institution is renowned for its innovative approach to teaching, high level of internationalization, and active participation in international academic programs and exchanges. The university offers a wide range of bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs, particularly in business, engineering, communications, arts, and humanities.This partnership with such a prestigious institution will enable Taras Shevchenko National University of Luhansk to engage with contemporary European educational trends, gain access to advanced teaching methodologies and research practices, and significantly expand opportunities for students and faculty in international mobility, scientific cooperation, and cultural exchange.

During the meeting on November 6, 2025, both parties agreed on specific next steps for cooperation. In particular, they agreed to organize and conduct a series of guest lectures in December 2025, exchange information regarding procedures and requirements for participation in academic mobility programs, and separately discussed prospects for developing a potential joint project application under the Erasmus+ KA2 programme, which could become an important step in developing systematic institutional cooperation between the universities.

These initiatives will contribute to strengthening the institutional capacity of Taras Shevchenko National University of Luhansk, improving the quality of the educational process, and integrating the university into the international academic environment.
