Honorary Awards to Educators of LTSNU on Independence Day

On August 18, 2025, Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University was invited to a solemn ceremony on the occasion of Ukraine’s Independence Day.
This event brought together military personnel, medics, volunteers, educators, and the general public, becoming a true symbol of unity and gratitude to those who work daily for the victory and reconstruction of our state.
After a minute of silence in memory of the fallen heroes, inspiring words were spoken by the head of the Lubny District Military Administration, Serhii SIRIACHENKO, and the head of the “HONOR AND CONSCIENCE” charitable foundation, Oksana KANEVSKA. It was these emotional speeches that set the solemn tone for the subsequent ceremony of presenting honorary awards.
A special honor for the educational community of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University was the presentation of Honorary Certificates to the leadership and staff of the university. The ceremony was conducted by a combat officer, Knight of the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky, Hero of the Ukrainian People, Chairman of the Board of the International Alliance of Defenders of Ukraine, Colonel Viacheslav VASILIEV.
The rector of the university, corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Olena KARAMAN was awarded the badge of the military unit A0222, as well as a Certificate of Gratitude from the command and personnel of the Separate Presidential Brigade named after Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytsky and an Honorary Certificate from the head of the NGO “International Alliance of Defenders of Ukraine” Viacheslav VASILIEV.
The badge of the same military unit and an Honorary Certificate were also awarded to the vice-rector for scientific and pedagogical work, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Yaroslav YURKIV and the executive secretary of the Admissions Committee of LTSNU, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences Viktoriia VOLODAVCHYK.
The Center for Veteran Development of LTSNU received a separate award. For the team of the Center, the Order of People’s Honor “For Valor and Victory” was awarded to the rector Olena KARAMAN, and was also awarded with Gratitude from the command and personnel of the Separate Presidential Brigade named after Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytsky and an Honorary Certificate from the head of the NGO “International Alliance of Defenders of Ukraine”.
During the ceremony, Viacheslav VASILIEV thanked the university for creating the Veteran Development Center, which helps military personnel, veterans and their families go through the path of social adaptation, psychological rehabilitation and professional development in order to realize their potential in peaceful life.
The Rector Olena Leonidivna KARAMAN expressed sincere gratitude to the organizers of the solemn event for the high appreciation of the work of educators, and also thanked the defenders of Ukraine, inviting them to cooperate with the Veteran Development Center of LTSNU. She presented the University’s Certificates of Honor to the organizers of the event, the military, and volunteers, noting their heroism and dedication.
A particularly touching moment was the presentation of gifts from the Ark Church to children of internally displaced persons who are under the care of the Center for Psychological Recovery and Adaptation of LTSNU.
Those Certificates of Honor that could not be presented in person during the event will be transferred to the relevant structural units of the university.
