Student Mentor in the Educational Program

A graduate of the ER ISHS became a student mentor in the educational program: the first step towards the profession of a history and law teacher.

Valeria Ilnytska, a student studying in the specialty 014 Secondary Education (History, Law), participated in the StudMentor volunteer program with the support of UNICEF, GPE Transformation Education, Teach for Ukraine and Educational Support.

As part of this program, the student conducted lessons on the history of Ukraine for 8th grade students, helping them overcome educational losses according to the 7th grade program during the eight-week volunteer program.

Valeria not only conducted lessons on overcoming educational losses in the history of Ukraine for the 8th grade students, but also had the opportunity to learn and develop thanks to the support of other mentors and the StudMentor program team. Valeria received valuable methodological recommendations from Marina Burlachka (super-mentor from the Ukrainian History program), Yaroslava Martynenko (super-mentor of the group) and Olha Drobysheva, associate professor of the Department of History and Archaeology, whose advice and methodological materials helped to build effective and interesting lessons.

New tools and approaches were also mastered: working with mind maps, active listening, modern teaching methods, working with teenagers in distance learning conditions.

We congratulate Valeria on her first significant step in her profession and wish her further success on the path to teaching skills and volunteer work!
