Final Certification at the Department of Journalism
10.6.2025
From June 5 to 9, the Department of Journalism of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology and Journalism held the final certification of higher education seekers of the first (bachelor’s) level in the specialty 061 “Journalism.”
This significant event was dedicated to Journalist’s Day in Ukraine – a professional holiday traditionally celebrated on June 6.
The certification took the form of defending bachelor’s qualification projects. Welcoming speeches were delivered to the graduating students by Volodymyr Tarasiuk, Chair of the Examination Board, PhD in Philology specializing in Journalism, and Associate Professor at the Department of Journalism at Uzhhorod National University; Kateryna Bilobrovska, PhD in Philology (specialty 035), Deputy Director for Academic Affairs; and board members Artem Halych, Doctor of Philology, Professor, and Head of the Department of Journalism, and Olena Kravchenko, PhD in Philology and Associate Professor of the Department of Journalism.
The future media professionals presented original projects that impressed the board with the depth of their research and innovative approaches. Each defense became a professional discussion, where not only theoretical knowledge was demonstrated, but also practical skills relevant to the media industry.
A special source of pride this year was the participation of Ukrainian defenders among the graduates – students who combined their studies with military service on the front lines. Despite enemy air activity and frequent air raid alerts, all participants successfully defended their qualification papers.
Based on the results of the defenses, the best projects were recognized as follows:
- Daniil Bystrukov – “The Journalist’s Work on Creating a Video Interview”
- Yevhen Bryzh – “The Journalist’s Work on an Opinion Column”
- Illia Tochenyi – “Creating the Original Layout of the Social Publication ‘Hromadskyi Format'”
Chairman Volodymyr Tarasiuk presented the audience with the reviews and comments for each academic work, highlighting the relevance of the topics and the professional approach of the graduates.
All students demonstrated themselves as persistent, responsible future specialists. They answered questions clearly and confidently. The level of their competencies, knowledge, and skills fully meets the requirements of the educational program.
After the discussion of the defended works, each graduate was informed of their final evaluation. Board members extended their sincere congratulations, while the new bachelor’s degree holders expressed gratitude to their instructors.
We warmly congratulate our graduates on successfully completing an important stage in their lives! We wish them strong health, boundless creative energy, and success in their professional careers for the benefit of Ukraine. Special thanks go to our defenders, who are bringing Victory closer while simultaneously holding the information front. Glory to Ukraine!
