Event Dedicated to the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Crimean Tatar Genocide

A thematic event dedicated to the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Crimean Tatar Genocide was held at the Professional College.

On May 19, the Professional College of LTSNU hosted a thematic event dedicated to the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Genocide of the Crimean Tatar People (May 18). This year marks the 81st anniversary of the deportation of Crimean Tatars from the territory of the Crimean Peninsula, carried out by the Soviet totalitarian regime in 1944.

15 minutes to gather ourselves and a long journey in a cramped freight car, into the unknown for many years from their native home. However, neither Stalin’s bloody regime in 1944, nor the same regime of dictator Putin today, broke the faith in freedom and the return home of the Crimean Tatar people, to their native land.

During the event, the college students watched the documentary film “At Dawn” by E. Seitbullaeva, which tells about the deportation of 1944 and its consequences, the events of 2014 – the occupation of Crimea. After watching the film, students and teachers discussed the common historical memory of Ukrainians and Crimean Tatars. Both peoples suffered crimes of totalitarian regimes aimed at the extermination of identity, culture, and language.
