Online Workshop “Ukrainian 2.0: Upgrade Through History”

Students of the ER ISHS attended the online workshop “Ukrainian 2.0: Upgrade Through History”.

On April 22, a workshop was held, during which they talked about key historical events that shaped the national character of Ukrainians – from the princely era and the struggle of the Cossacks, to the liberation struggles of the 20th century and the events of modern war.

It was a conversation about our eternal struggle for freedom, identity, dignity. And at the same time, about how in historically difficult times Ukrainians managed to rally, unite, seek a common goal and support from each other.

The discussion about Ukrainian identity in the 21st century made a special impression.

How do we see a modern Ukrainian?

What features have become defining in our time?

In this context, it was especially interesting to hear the opinions of the participants: someone spoke about culture, someone about language, volunteering, and responsibility to future generations.

Attending such events is an opportunity to look at history from a new angle, to feel its living presence in the present and to realize how the events of the past influenced the formation of our identity. How in different eras Ukrainians combined the desire for freedom with the need for unity, and how these values are transformed into the image of a modern Ukrainian.
