Guest Lecture for Students Majoring in “Social Work. Social Pedagogy. Practical Psychology”

On February 27, a guest online lecture was held on the topic: “Codependency. Impact on the formation of unhealthy relationships in the family and the development of addiction.”
The lecturer was Maria TETSKA, who is a practicing psychotherapist working with addicts and co-addicts at the Center for Psycho-Social Rehabilitation for Drug and Alcohol Addicts “Neba”, Tbilisi, Georgia.
The lecture was organized for students majoring in “Social Work” under the educational program “Social Work. Social Pedagogy. Practical Psychology” of our university, and also students from the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management (Kyiv), Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University, and Kharkiv National Medical University joined the lecture as listeners. In total, more than 100 participants took part in the event.
During the lecture, the students clarified the concept of “codependency”, got acquainted with the factors, characteristics and symptoms of codependency in the family, and also examined the impact on the formation of unhealthy relationships in the family and on the development of addiction.
In addition, special attention was paid to the psychological aspects of interaction in families where there is dependence, as well as ways to overcome codependency in the family and provide assistance to codependents.
After the lecture, students had the opportunity to ask questions to the lecturer and take part in a lively discussion.
The Social Pedagogy Department expresses sincere gratitude to lecturer Maria TETSKA for the relevant and extremely useful material, which was presented professionally, practically, and at the same time accessible and modern. Such events, within the framework of international cooperation, allow students to gain new knowledge and develop practical guidelines for future professional activities in the social sphere.
