An online meeting of the thematic working group on mental health and psychosocial support for veterans was held.

On February 13, an online meeting of the thematic working group on mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) of veterans was held on the topic “Coordination of psychosocial support for veterans and veterans’ families through best local practices and international recommendations”. The event brought together leaders and representatives of various institutions interested in providing quality support for veterans of Ukraine.

The meeting program consisted of two parts: an introductory session, where welcoming remarks were made, and a panel discussion dedicated to local experience in implementing MHPSS projects for veterans. Participants discussed issues of veteran policy, challenges, ways to solve them, as well as issues of redirection and cooperation between organizations working in the field of veteran support.

The event was attended by the Center for Veteran Development of LTSNU, which is a structural unit of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University and is coordinated by Yaroslava YURKIV, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work. The Center is connected by a network with other units of the university: educational and research institutes, professional colleges, the Regional Center for Professional Education, the library, departments, centers and the administration.

The online meeting was aimed at supporting veterans of Ukraine, discussing cooperation directly with representatives of ministries, local communities and other organizations working in this area. The main goal of the event is to tell participants about the mental health, develop basic first aid skills in the field of mental health, as well as strengthen psychosocial support for veterans and veteran families.

Thanks to such events, an effective system of assistance to veterans is being built, which contributes to their social adaptation and return to active life in society.

The Veteran Development Center of LTSNU continues its activities in this direction, cooperating with state and public institutions to provide comprehensive support to veterans and promote their further integration into public life.
