Pre-defense of Master’s Theses
29.11.2024
The Department of Chemistry, Geography and Earth Sciences held a pre-defense of master’s theses.
On November 28, the Department of Chemistry, Geography and Earth Sciences of the Educational and Research Institute of Natural and Agrarian Sciences of LTSNU successfully held a preliminary defense of master’s qualification theses of students majoring in 103 “Earth Sciences”. The event was held in a remote format, which allowed students from different regions of the country to take part in this important event.
The pre-defense of master’s theses is an integral part of the educational process. This is not only an opportunity to improve their scientific research, but also a unique chance to understand the structure and requirements for the main defense. Master’s students had the opportunity to check their work in conditions as close as possible to the final stage, receive valuable advice from teachers and scientific supervisors, and gain a deeper understanding of the strengths of their research and aspects that require refinement.
During the preliminary defense, applicants presented the results of scientific research that they had worked on throughout the entire period of study. The topics of the works covered current problems and new directions in the field of Earth sciences, in particular, the study of the ecological state of territories, the analysis of geological processes, the modeling of natural phenomena and the development of innovative approaches to environmental monitoring.
Each student presented his/her work, answered the questions of the commission and received constructive comments and recommendations for further improvement of the work. The teachers noted the high level of training of the master’s students, their ability to formulate conclusions, apply modern research methods and integrate the acquired knowledge into the practical sphere.
Special attention was paid not only to the scientific component of the works, but also to the quality of the presentations and the ability of the students to argue their decisions. This will help students to present their research more confidently and effectively at the final defense.
Congratulations to the master’s students of the Department of Chemistry, Geography and Earth Sciences on completing the first stage of the defense of their qualification works! We wish them inspiration, success in their future work and a brilliant final defense, which will be an important step towards obtaining their dream diploma!
