Center on the Problems of Social Pedagogy and Social Work

Since 2005, a research center on social pedagogy and social work of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine has been successfully operating on the basis of the University (Director – Karaman O. L., Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor).

In 2019, scientists of the Center worked on the topic: “Socialization of children and youth of eastern Ukraine in a hybrid war in the Donbass”.

The scientific novelty of the scientific and research work is that for the first time the theoretical and technological bases of socialization of children and youth of the east of Ukraine in the conditions of hybrid war in Donbas are scientifically substantiated and developed; The technology of social and pedagogical support of the process of socialization of children and youth in the conditions of hybrid war in the east of Ukraine in the set of seven components is developed and proceeds: target, conceptual, subject-object, information-environmental, semantic, procedural, effective.

The practical significance of the scientific and research work is that within the technology of socio-pedagogical support of the process of socialization of children and youth in a hybrid war in eastern Ukraine implemented in practice: content, forms and methods of integrated social work aimed at changing the vector of socialization of children and youth aberration to successful in a hybrid war in eastern Ukraine.

The scientific and research work covers new categories of children and youth from: internally displaced persons, persons from the temporarily occupied territory, servicemen – participants in hostilities.

The results of research are used in the educational process with students of the educational and scientific institute of pedagogy and psychology. The educational and methodical support of training of specialists in the following specialties has been improved: 011 Educational, pedagogical sciences (Higher school pedagogy), 016 Special education, 231 Social work, 053 Psychology.

In 2019, the scientific and research work continued its cooperation with SOS Children’s Villages International (Austria) as a base for the experiment. Currently, the scientific and research work is connected with the National Office of SOS Children’s Villages International (Kyiv) and the Luhansk Regional Branch of the International Charitable Organization SOS Children’s Town Charitable Foundation. The content of cooperation in 2019 was the joint implementation of the project: “Strengthening the potential of families who find themselves in difficult life circumstances, who have the status of IDPs and are at risk of losing parental care”.

The purpose and content of the project was to promote psychological adaptation and social integration of internally displaced children and families by providing comprehensive free psychosocial assistance in the cities of Starobilsk, Severodonetsk, Stanytsia-Luhansk and Stanychno-Luhansk and Starobilsk districts of Luhansk region.

As a result, qualified social and psychological services were provided to more than 600 children and their families (365 families) who were admitted to the IDPs and with the status of IDPs living in Starobilsk, Severodonetsk, Stanytsia-Luhansk and Stanychno-Luhansk district of Luhansk region; 42 children were placed in family care; 5 foster families were created (families of foster parents): in Stanytsia-Luhanska – 1, in Bilokurakino – 2, in Troitsky – 2.

According to the results of the research, 14 articles were published (2 articles – in journals included in scientometric databases Scopus, Web of Science; 1 – in English in a foreign publication; 2 – in collective monographs, 9 – in professional publications), 3 abstracts, 1 methodical manual.
