Volunteer activity for the European Day of Parks
26.5.2023
This year, the European Day of Parks, which was celebrated on May 24, was held under the slogan “Parks – for Future Generations”.
As part of the celebration of the day, it was important to raise awareness about the responsibility we bear to preserve the natural and cultural heritage for future generations. On this occasion, Larysa Osypenko, a master’s student majoring in ecology at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, who is engaged in volunteering within the “Volunteering – Nature – Human” project in Lithuania from the European Solidarity Corps, with the support of the Aukshteit National Park and the Labanorsky Regional Park (Lithuania), conducted a presentation in the local gymnasium of the village of Vidishkes for students on the topic “Consequences of the War for the Nature Reserve Fund of Ukraine”.
Mrs. Larysa told the students with the impact of the war on the protected territories of Ukraine using the example of national parks. Photos and video footage of the consequences of the military aggression of the Russian Federation for the nature reserve fund were shown. As part of the presentation, maximum attention was paid to the consequences of the war and possible ways to overcome them.
We thank Ms. Larysa for the active civic stance and drawing attention to Ukraine’s environmental problems caused by the armed aggression of the Russian Federation.
