Opening of the Resource Centre for Sustainable Development

Resource Center for Sustainable Development was opened at LNU with support from United Nation Development Program in Ukraine on March 2.

Such center will allow university filling a proper position among Resource Centers for Sustainable Development aimed at developing civil society institutions in different cities of Ukraine.

Opening was conducted on a round table basis attended by university staff, administration and students, representatives of Community Based Approach to Local Development Project and other projects of UNDP, local government and public organizations.

The event participants presented projects of United Nation Development Program, LNU activity on international programs and projects, considered local community development and sustainable development of Luhansk region, possibility of cooperation with representatives of government and business and working plan of Resource Center for Sustainable Development 2016.

Resource Center provides a platform for cooperation of university and public organizations, business and local government to implement sustainable development principles in different life spheres of Ukrainian society during reforming period. Productive cooperation supposes implementing results of researching sustainable development conducted, in particular, at the Institute of History, International Relations and Socio-Political Sciences of LNU.

Center’s educative activity supposes project implementation, trainings, seminars and other measures on developing social, economic and structural reorganization of region. Center considers students as the key in future implementation of sustainable development principles, that is why its plans include participation of students and postgraduate students in research competitions and conferences on sustainable development, organization of conferences, round tables, training seminars and other forms of research activity on sustainable development.

Center is open for cooperation with nongovernmental organizations on counseling regarding development of projects aimed at international funding, organizational and methodical support to implement regional and other task programs.
