Professional teachers’ activity at the ER IPES

Oleksandr Dubovoi, Director of the Institute of Physical Education and Sports, acted as a judge at the first Ukrainian Tug of War Championship among secondary school students aged 15‒17.

On May 20, 2023, the first Ukrainian Tug of War Championship among secondary school students aged 15‒17 years was held in Kyiv.

The event was held at the Kyiv Military Lyceum named after Ivan Bohun on the initiative of the head of the Lyceum, the legendary hero of Ilovaisk, Hero of Ukraine, Major General Ihor Hordiichuk.

The organizers of the competition were: the Committee for Physical Education and Sports of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Ukraine, the Federation of the Strongest Athletes of Ukraine and Tug of War, the Kyiv Military Lyceum named after Ivan Bohun.

At the invitation of the organizers of the competition, Oleksandr Dubovoi, Director of the Institute of Physical Education and Sports, acted as a judge of the tug of war competition. Oleksandr Volodymyrovych was happy to talk with his compatriots at the competition. The Luhansk Lyceum team with enhanced military and physical training took part and took the 5th place.

He also shared his impressions of the competition. First of all, participation in such competitions is an opportunity to improve judging skills, an opportunity to conduct professional orientation work. Secondly, the competition is held at a fairly high level. Those present were addressed with a welcome speech: the head of the Kyiv Lyceum, legendary hero of Ilovaisk, Hero of Ukraine, Major General Ihor Hordiychuk; Chairman of the Committee on Physical Education and Sports of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Vadym Stetsenko; founder of professional tug of war of Ukraine, president of the Federation of the Strongest Athletes and Tug of War of Ukraine and  Honored Coach of Ukraine and the USSR, Honored Worker of Physical Culture and Sports of Ukraine, Honorary Citizen of the City of Kyiv and general producer of the TV project “Heroic Games” Volodymyr Kiba.

Also at the opening ceremony, the Honored Academic Song and Dance Ensemble of the Armed Forces of Ukraine performed with the famous hopak. And at the end of the competition, everyone was invited to take part in sled pulling. This approach to holding competitions promotes the involvement of young people in physical education and sports.

We thank the organizers for the development of strength sports, for the opportunity to improve referee skills and to promote the involvement of young people in the active sports life!
