The ethnodigest “Vysyvanka – a Symbol of the Ukrainian Soul” was held at the Educational and Research Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology.
On May 18, 2023, the ER IPP organized an online meeting with the director of the Dolyna Central Public Library, Nadia Kushnirchuk, who conducted the ethnodigest “Vysyvanka – a Symbol of the Ukrainian Soul”. Students, teachers and deputies from social and humanitarian work of various structural subdivisions of the university came to the meeting.
The director of the library reminded everyone present that the vyshyvanka is a talisman, a bright symbol of the fate of the Ukrainian people, has always been and remains a Ukrainian shrine that symbolizes high wisdom, spiritual wealth and the connection of generations. It is woven into our traditions with colored threads. And the most important thing is that Ukrainian vyshyvanka, having a centuries-old history, has not lost its popularity to this day. It is worn by women and men, adults and children. It should be noted that most of the guests at the meeting were in embroidered dresses.
The story-presentation of Mrs. Nadiia helped the attendees to learn more about the history, development, and origin of Ukrainian vyshyvanka, to get acquainted with the colors of embroidery, and to understand the sacred motifs of embroidery culture. Special attention was paid to Boyki embroidery. The unusual facts about the Ukrainian vyshyvanka interested everyone present.
At the end of the meeting, the participants asked questions, shared their impressions of what they heard.
We are sincerely grateful to the director of the Dolyna Central Public Library, Nadiia Kushnirchuk, for the extremely interesting selection of materials about the embroidered cloth and its significance for Ukrainians. We hope for further fruitful cooperation!
