All-Ukrainian Conference “Luhansk Region. Local Studies”
19.5.2023
Recently, a non-trivial scientific event took place on the basis of the Institute of History, International Relations and Socio-Political Sciences.
After a one-year, forced break caused by the full-scale Russian invasion, local historians of the Institute of History held a traditional All-Ukrainian Conference “Luhansk Region. Local Studies”. It should be noted that this scientific event, which over the years has turned into one of the main events in the scientific and local history life of the Luhansk region, celebrated its first five-year anniversary.
Despite all the difficulties, the Conference gathered leading scientists not only from Luhansk region, but also from Poltava region, which became the new homeland for Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University. Among them, in particular, are the traditional participants and organizers of the event: Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Chairman of the board of the Luhansk Regional Organization of the NSKU, Academician of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine, First Vice-Rector of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University Vitalii Kurylo; Doctor of Political Sciences, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Luhansk Regional Organization of the NSCU, Director of the Educational and Research Institute of History, International Relations and Socio-Political Sciences of LTSNU Anton Bader; Manager of the Department of Sustainable Development and Internal Communications of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia”, Mykola Ruban; Chairman of the Board of the NGO “Fund for the Restoration of the Railway Heritage of Ukraine”; Doctor of Historical Sciences, Head of the Department of History of Ukraine of LTSNU Oleksandr Naboka; Candidate of Historical Sciences, responsible secretary of the Luhansk Regional Organization of the NSCU, Associate Professor of the Department of History of Ukraine of LTSNU Olha Zabudkova.
Among the leading scientists who took part in the work of the Conference for the first time were: Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of World History and Archeology of the Vasyl Stus Donetsk National University Roman Lytvynenko; Candidate of Legal Sciences, Professor, Professor of the Department of Professional and Special Disciplines, Kherson Faculty of Odesa State University of Internal Affairs Andrii Benitskyi; Tamara Diachenko, researcher of the Hnat Stelletskyi Lubny Museum of Local Lore; Oleksii Lysenko, researcher of the Lysychanskyi Municipal Local History Museum; Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor, Associate Professor of the Department of Ukrainian History of LTSNU Mykola Taranenko and others.
Also, the Conference became a traditional platform for the first approbation of the results of local history research for students of the ER IHIRSPS: Valeriia Ilnytska, Makarenko Viktoria, Yevhenia Avdeeva and others.
The reports were devoted to the history of Luhansk region and Poltava region, which, however, have a lot in common in their historical development. Considering the history of the Luhansk region in the context of the development of other Ukrainian lands, in turn, allows to give its history a much larger Ukrainian context.
According to the results, it is planned to publish a traditional scientific collection.
