Within the Science Days, on April 28, the All-Ukrainian conference “Actual Issues of Document Studies: History and Present” was held at the Department of Document Studies and Information Activities of the ER IPMIT.

According to the program, the conference was held online.

The purpose of the All-Ukrainian Conference was to highlight and discuss current problems in the information and documentation field, in particular, issues of training highly qualified specialists in higher education in demand in the modern labor market, functioning of modern libraries and archival institutions, relations with the public in the system of business communications, etc.

Science Days are already traditional meetings of students, which are held annually at the Department of Document Studies and Information Activities. During the discussion of important issues, attention was paid, first of all, to the prospects for the development of specialty 029 “Information, Library and Archival Work” (educational program “Documentation and Information Activity”).

Today, it is an indisputable fact that in the conditions of competition on the modern labor market, employers seek to obtain highly qualified specialists capable of providing documentation and non-documentation processes. That is why raising the quality level of the educational process is an urgent requirement today.

Teachers of the Department of Document Studies and Information Activities and students worked in the following sections:

  • Document studies and information activities in the system of modern scientific research.
  • Clerkship and speech culture.
  • Information technologies in the field of document studies.
  • Library affairs in the context of the development of the information society.
  • Archival science: history and modern dimension.
  • Document and information resources in the system of social communications.
  • Professional training of specialists in the information and documentary field.

Based on the results of the discussion of scientific and educational-methodical problems, the participants came to the conclusion that in the educational space it is necessary to involve modern technologies for the training of future specialists in the information and documentation field, among which an important place belongs to trainings, business games, discussions, etc. All these forms of intensification of the cognitive activity of students should form the readiness of future specialists for professional activity, the development of abilities and skills of oral and written communication with domestic and foreign business partners, increase the level of literacy, etc.

Attention is focused on the rapid changes in the information and document science industry caused by the development of new computer technologies, which requires constant updating of knowledge and skills. First of all, a specialist in the field of information and document studies must quickly adapt to these changes, as well as be able to apply the knowledge acquired in higher education in practical activities. The development of critical and logical thinking of future specialists, as well as creativity, which is manifested in the ability to generate new ideas, contributes to the application of the results of analytical activities in the field of management documentation support.
